Do you know Hummer ? What the Hummer is ? Why its so popular ? If not just take a look at the video i have given at the end of this post. so, I was just collecting few wallpapers of HUMMER for my Widescreen LCD, and just came across few superb videos of HUMMER on Youtube [Included one at end]. So i decided to check out in detail, what HUMMER is and whats its past and why its HUMMER !. So i searched it on Wikipedia, i was just reading in between the lines. and i shocked while reading this paragraph.

so Indian SUV [Scorpio] maker Mahindra & Mahindra offered international SUV maker for deal, and which deal ? THE HUMMER !! WOO, What if Mahindra & Mahindra brought the Hummer division ? The Indian Army will get HUMMER [or you can say High Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicle (HMMWV, or Humvee)] and people like us can see the Hummer running on Indian roads !! [Though we have few Hummers in Indian too , Actor Sunil Shetty have one Hummer]
The above text from wikipedia says that “PAIR of indian automakers….” so who was the second, after doing some research i came to know that second was TATA. You must know that recently TATA brought the Jaguar and Land rover from Ford motors. so what you think ? can TATA buy the HUMMER too ?
If you dont know what the HUMMER is, look at this amazing video showing the actual power and few details about HUMMER [Note: Even if you know HUMMER, you must watch this video]

These people after aquiring foreign products will spoil it. They won’t do further R&D and the products will remain in the same state. It can happen to Jaguar and Rover (taken over by Tata) and now to Hummer also…
Remember what happend to Royal Enfield and Ambassador after respective acquisitions. The products are in the same state as they were in 60s and 70s

An average small car like the santro runs about 13 kms on one litre of petrol. The Hummer on the other hand goes only 6 kms.
I think our car companies would be better off researching on new greener cars that are more fuel efficient. That is the future. Look at state of GM today. It is close to bankruptcy because it kept producing fuel guzzlers while its Japanese and Korean competitors brought one fuel efficient car after another.
The many crores that we will spend in acquiring hummer would be better spent on research. We need to learn from the success of Chandrayaan and Nano and learn to believe in ourselves.

@IVS
I think you are mistaken about GM. The reason why GM is “close to bankruptcy” is because of the financial markets going south and people pulling money out of stock into cash. This would affect them because they need capital to continue running their businesses.
The large SUV market has actually been a very large part of their income and very good for them. They realized a very large percentage of profits from this market.
Now that market is dying down they are turning to more fuel efficient cars because the large cars aren’t being bought anymore.
Supply & Demand.

@lvs and Tertius
The matter of development is always in front of Indians, whether it is Chandrayan or any thing, most of the people still thing that India should concentrate on development of local, rather than designing such high cost projects, now its upto them, what to do and how .
But still we should tell them what is correct and whats not.
