Now a days new processors are coming with extreme power, they can perform many calculations at once, can give you real life quality gaming experience. But what about the Power consumption ? A normal Intel pentium 4 processor consumes about 70 – 80 Watt of power, where as high performance Pentium D Processors may go upto 130 Watt !!!
[See all processor list with there power consumption at en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CPU_power_dissipation ]
So, your normal personal computers are sucking a lots of power. But there is a way to minimize it. and without harming your system. Windows XP has a special feature to minimize this power consumption of your computer processor so to increase the laptop battery life or save the electricity bills.
So, to save your computer power consumption to maximize the battery life just perform following steps/
STEP 1 :
Download software called CPUZ to measure the current CPU Speed. Check the current processor speed.
(This step is optional, but if you want to see the effect by your eyes then follow it)
STEP 2 :
Now right click on desktop go to Properties
Then Screensaver tab
Then click on Power button (at bottom)
This will open “Power option properties”
STEP 3 :
Now from the “Power scheme” drop down menu select “Minimal power management”.
Set bottom Automatic turn off options according to your choice.
and click OK. then OK DONE !!
STEP 4 :
This is how you can save the power consumption of your computer or Laptop .This trick will surely increase your Laptop battery life and total working hours. Actually using this option Windows automatically change the processor frequency according to its use i.e. if your computer need high processing power it will increase its power consumption else it will remain to minimum power.
The Intel processors with SpeedStep technology and AMD processors with Cool’n'Quiet will support this feature, all new processors support this technology.
