Many people stuck in Ubuntu for playing there favorite videos, Ubuntu being such a great open source operating system have capability to play any type of Video files. But again you need to install few files on it.

Many of us know the VLC player [Video lan player]. One of the most famous and small software which plays almost any type of video which we feed him. So in ubuntu too VLC gonna help us.

To install VLC on Ubuntu,

Connect your Ubuntu to Internet.

Go to Applications >> Add/Remove Applications.

Search for VLC.

Check the application box and download and install the VLC player, Enjoy your favorite videos on Ubuntu. VLC can play like FLV, AVI, MPEG, and almost all video formats.

You can also install it using terminal

% sudo apt-get update
% sudo apt-get install vlc vlc-plugin-esd mozilla-plugin-vlc

Enter these commands and get your Video player i.e. VLC.
