USB, i.e. Universal Serial Bus is now one of the most used technology now a days. Many gadgets are coming on USB connectivity support. The last revision of USB was USB 2.0 but now its time to upgrade yourself, Because USB 3.0 is coming. USB 3.0 [Universal Serial Bus] also know as SuperSpeed USB is coming next year to speed up the data transfer upto 10 times more.

Currently USB has two versions V 1.0 also called as FULLSPEED, and V 2.0 Called as HIGHSPEED, the new Segment of USB will be called as “SUPERSPEED” as its really super speed for data transfer. Intel co-op is developing the USB standards and uptill now they are 90 % completed. The new USB 3.0 will be launched in MID 2009 or may be in END 2009.

Almost all chip makers are ready to support this new standard, Intel was not in mood to share the USB specification with other chip makers but after warning fron AMD and nVidia about making there own specification , Intel is now ready for that.

USB.org recently unveiled the new Logo for USB 3.0.

USB 3.0 will support both Optical and copper wire interface, this will be interesting to see the optical fiber cables in our gadgets :) . It will be compatible with older interfaces. and according to them it will be power efficient than the current versions.

    That is a great news …
    But whoever (Intel/AMD/nVidia)creates it first we are going to be benefited :)

    But don’t you think we would need to replace our older ( not that older enough , as many people will buy the USB 2.0 till may 2009 ) USB 2.0 .
    And this might be the loss for the new purchasers.
    And one more Business disadvantage is to the manufacturing company is people will hardly buy these new speed chasers :) . As they have some efficiently working USB’s with them ..

    @Ashish Kalmegh
    Only Intel will create it. As now they are with each other.
    and about the new buyers, The USB 3.0 will be available for new Mother boards only or you will have to buy some extension cards for it, Windows and other OS makers will add inbuilt drivers for the new USB 3.0.
    As you must know that currently most of the PEN drives have USB 2.0 but still they didnt provide us the actual high speed data transfer rate [480Mbps] have you ever got that much speed ?
    USB 3.0 will be launched in 2009 but for adoption it will take one more year.

    Yes you are also right !! I know that these USB ports are not that much fast. We will have to wait till it is launched and reviewed by the experts :)
    As
    Every new technology or advancement in it has some advantages and disadvantages too . This is also one of the new .
    Lets hope for the low prices .

    As I have in total Laptop:Desktop::3:4 USB 2.0 ports :) LoL
