HOW TO increase speed of BSNL broadband UL750 plan.

ADS BY GOOGLE

Router LightsBSNL – India’s number one Telecommunications Company. I am using UL750 plan of BSNL. UL750 means Unlimited plan with monthly rental of 750INR (taxes extra). It provides speed of 256kbps, which is good for normal surfing and small downloads.

I received many e-mails through the contact page about how to increase the speed of this UL750 plan. Even on Orkut many people ask me how to speed up the connection of BSNL.

Today i am not going to tell you any secret or something different here.I will give you few details about how BSNL or any ISP (Internet service provider) calculate the speed of there connections.

According to plan specifications of 750 UL plan, it is provided that the plan will provide bandwidth of 256kbps (note the small kbps).Means you will get the speed around 32KBps (now note the capital KBps).

If you are aware of storage conventions and about the TB,GB,KB,kb etc. Then you must ware of the table below.

Data conversion table :
Bite: 8 bits = 1 byte
Bytes: 1024 bytes = 1 KB
Kilobytes: 1024 KB = 1 MB
Megabytes: 1024 MB = 1 GB…….

The Fact :

So as BSNL is providing speed of 256kbps which is equivalent to 32KBps !! So if you are getting speed around 30-32KBps while downloading then you are getting best for what you are paying. If you want any such conversions in broadband plans just divide the number by eight. i.e. 256/8 = 32.

But still

Speed is less than 30-32KBps ?? then read on ..

  1. Is your telephone line is ok ?? Check for any joints and if possible replace the wire with new single wire. Avoid joints.
  2. If your surfing speed is slow then try using Firefox web browser instead of Internet explorer and use OpenDNS.
  3. If you need any help related to torrents look at the following posts :

@ceznez, from my opinion use dap premium 9.0 and also download cheat engine 5.5 use this settings in cheat engine go to found o click on it after that a dialog box will appear select dap exe then click on enable speed hack below it in box write 0.1 then click apply you will see the change in transfer rate of dap which you want but you only do this after installing dap premium full version of it

    @Chetan, Use dns server as:
    218.248.240.208
    218.248.240.135

This will surely increase a little bit.

@Chetan, there is definatly no way to get past the limits provided by isp you may get the hacking clues from many side but its all time wasting.using different dns may put very little effect.though you can cheat with isp by removing caping.

@mahi, no never.i want to give u an advice if you want to download bigger size files more than a gb then go for 500Rs plan with speed vary from 150 to 280 kbps and it is free at night better than 750

  • anshul said:
    May 14, 2009 at 2:10 am

Real matter is that 500 rental plan gets a downloading speed of 200-300 kbps at night time means you can download movie in hour because that connection is of 2Mbps,thats why readers want trick to speed up 750 plan as its not possible it cant give more that 50 kbps at any time speed as one eight rule applies.

As 500 plan is of 2mbps because of limited 2 gb usage and is free at night time only.

If you have money and you need damn speed then go for Airtel 8MBPS plan. But if you need high downloads at low rates then go for BSNL. (Specially H500 Plan for high downloads, its 2MBPS) and for long surfing try BSNL H750UL or H1300UL.

@Ajinkyaa, bsnl 500 plan will be the best if you r not rich bcz of speed and 2.5 gb is enough for surfing but give attention to your updates which keep on letting your pc to download updates.if you take connection on the name of person who is government employ then you will get 20% discount on bill.

I have advised many of my friends NOT to take 750 umlimited plan. The reasons-as you cited is slow speed.Apart from DNS issue ,there will be signal issues too i.e. SNR will be too low.And consider yourself the Luckiest if you get 32KBPS.

I am a user of plan 500C+ and recommend this or (500C)to my friends. This constantly gives speeds well above 100KB and has unlimited download from 2am to 8am. You may not believe that I have downloaded 40MB in flat 40 seconds!

Now if the user is concerned with excessive usage,I have scheduled utorrent which starts downloading only after free period begins say at 2:30 am and stops at 7:45 am.(I have posted it on my blog-How to do it-It’s dead simple).Plus I am not a YouTube junkie. This way I have never exceeded my 2.5GB data limit.

I suggest you to check the speeds of 500C+ plan if any of your friend is using it.

@Hisham, Yes the plan 500C and 500C+ give unlimited downloads from 2am to 8am.Even if you download 15GB of data at this period this will not be billed. However to be safe IP address must be changed before you start download after 2:15am and after you finish downloads at 7:50am.

WE SHOULD KNOW THAT IF WE CONTINUOSLY MAKE THE DOWNLOADS EVERY DAY STARTING AT 2:00 AM IN HOME 500C THEN AFTER THREE OR FIVE DAYS THE SPEED WILL BE DECREASED.THIS IS DONE BY THE BSNL SERVER.THE STUPID BSNL PROGRAMMERS MAKE THIS.IN HOME 500C THERE IS ALSO MANY DISADVANTAGES.THERE IS DOWNLOAD DATA LIMIT.YOU CAN KNOW IT PRACTICALLY WHEN YOU START YOUR DOWNLOADS EVEN FROM 5:00 AM AND STOPS AT 8:00 AM CONTINUOSLY FOR MORE THAN FOUR OR FIVE DAYS THEN THE DOWNLOAD SPEED WILL BE DECREASED.THIS IS DONE BY THE BSNL SERVER.

    @shakthi,
no imean to say what is ur normal downloading speed check it on speedtest.net

    well now tips for torrent
    1) search in youtube.com for best results.

    NOW DOWNLOAD utorrent from freedownloads.com
2)Trackers play much important in speed of your torrent download, so you must choose the torrent download sites perfectly. You can read my list of best torrent sites.
    PORT FORWARDING
To achieve the top speed in uTorrent your port must be forwarded. The forwarded port in uTorrent then the status bar in uTorrent will show Green icon. Else it will be exclamation mark.
If it is forwarded then it is fine, else you need to change the port number to get the correct port.Choose a port number greater than 10,000 . Currently i am using port number “43081? and it is forwarded. Choose any number and check if it is forwarded or not. You can change the port number through clicking on that icon or by pressing “CTRL+G”.
    SAVE YOUR PORT
Once you got the perfect port number, make sure your option in Option >> Preference >> Connection >> “Randomize port each start” is unchecked.
TELL WINDOWS, UTORRENT IS WORKING FOR ME
Windows firewall may try to block the uTorrent connection with the network, thats why make sure your option in Option >> Preference >> Connection >> “Add windows firewall exception” is checked.
DONT TELL YOUR ISP THAT YOU ARE USING UTORRENT
Many ISP’s block uTorrent downloads, that’s why make sure your option in Option >> Preference >> BitTorrent >> Protocol Encryption is Enabled. This will surely increase your speed.
HEY FIREWALL, LET THE FLOW COME IN
If you are using any firewall software, add uTorrent in “allowed application” or “allowed programs” so that they will allow uTorrent to work to get maximum speed.
    UPLOAD : DOWNLOAD – RATIO
I suggest keep changing the ratio as per speed, i try to keep this ratio at 0.5 i.e. if my download speed us 100KB/ps then i will keep my upload speed near to 50KB/ps. keep changing this speed. NEVER make upload speed to ZERO. Many torrent trackers ban the IPs who do not upload so keep this option atleast close to 50%.
There are many other options in uTorrent, i recommend you dont play with them. They will not affect your speed, but may cause lesser speed problem.

DO NOT FORGET TO POST UR REPLY AND ANSWERS.

    and 1350 UL = 512Kbps(capital K)

    Hi, friends..

Currently i m using Bsnl 500C Plan, Limited download/upload upto 1.5 GB. But it gives me superb speed.. i got download speed between 80 to 125 kbps(specially in morng).
It is also totally free during 2:AM to 8:AM.

But this free time duration is not so good. becuse if i wants to download in night then i hav to wait till 2 AM, And when it come i m in dreams (sleeping)…

Due to more download requirement I was about to change my plan to 750 UL, but i read here that it d’not gives good speed(30 to 40 kbps). So i m not changing.. but i will go to the 500C+ plan, same charge, same speed but D/UP is 2.5GB, because i need speed.

Any body wants to know about BSNL tariff plan Just go to http://www.bsnl.in/service/dataone_tariff.htm

one mor thing that there is not much effect by changing any setting in our browser.

So bye friends…Any thing need to know. Just mail me. Or call me +91 9897715981.

i wants to tell one more thing that in BSNL 500C plan where we got 256kbps to 2mbps speed there is not any speed reduction while using continuous download at the free period that is 2am to 8am. I checked it and got the same speed while i download more than 2GB daily.
So u can download as much as u want in the free period without speed compromise.

@ubergamer, So Mr Scientiest, so you are able to dowload 18000 GB per month and 800 GB per day, I think you have difficulties with understanding difference between GB(gigabyte) and MB(Megabyte). No internet connection in the world is able to provide that speed, to download that amount of data you need a speed of atleast 74 MB per second, that also you need to keep your machine on 24hours a day, with your connection you are able to download no more than 2GB per day, even that too if you keep your machine running 24 hours, so stop giving nonsense suggestions, peoples are not idiot here it may be you.

    Hi,
I tried some of your tricks above to increase my Utorrent speed, but I am not getting the required speed of 32 Kbps. I have 750 Home plan from BSNL and I download a lot of movies and each 768 or 800 mb movie takes around 18 to 20 hrs for completing the download. I am sick of this.

Some of the movies takes ages, say two months!! can you believe!! their speed is 0.7 Kbps or 0.2 Kbps… I am actually tired of these movies and I just delete when I run out of patience.

Recently I am thinking of going for 512 Kbps…

is there anyting you would like to suggest before I change my BSN broad Band plan???

    Regards,

    dealer Replied:
    October 10, 2009 at 2:29 pm

@Edwin, Hi Edwin you told it will take 18 to 20 hours for downloading a movie of size around 800 MB through torrents don’t be panic it is not problem with your bsnl speed it is perfect, it gives you 32 KBps, it is problem with torrent trackers, and also with less number of peers from whom you download movie. even if you move to 512 plan such movies you cannot download faster, best idea is to download several movies together so if atleast few movies got better peers to download then your download speed gets utilized completely, and with in 18 to 20 hours you will be able to download atleastt 1.5 to 1.8 GB. if you keep your computer on 24 hour you’ll be able to download more than 2 GB.

    Vaibhav Jain Replied:
    November 11, 2009 at 2:29 pm

    @Edwin, Hi there
if you wants to download movies or whatever, y don’t u change ur plan by H500C(Rs500, 1.5 GB) or H500C+ (Rs600, 2.5 GB free).
In both of the connection the download speed is more than 150 kbps and in night 2 am to 8 am is totally free.

But the limitation is only the 1.5 and 2.5 gb/month So be care full while using at the time other than that free hours.

and U will get the true speed because i m using it. So enjoy

One more suggestion Use IDM (Internet Download Manager) for downloading. U will get the Best of the Best result. I promise. But only limitation is with the IDM is that it is only 30 days trial. And don’t download any crack to make it full version. That cracks are Torjan’s. Plz don’t download because i download that crack and after that my yahoo, orkut account is hacked. and later i know that crack is virus(Torjan). So enjoy only free 30days of IDM.

    @Arya, use

    2).Click Start–>Run–>type gpedit.msc . then Local Computer
    Policy–>Computer Configuration–>
    Administrative Templates–>Network–>
QOS Packet Scheduler–>Limit Reservable BandwidthDouble click on it.It will say it is not configured,
but the truth is seen on LHS of page
:”By default, the Packet Scheduler limits the system to
20 percent of the bandwidth of a connection, but you can
use this setting to override the default.”So the trick is
to ENABLE reservable bandwidth, then set it to ZERO.

If u want wireless connection go for BSNL EVDO- speed around 60 KB/S to 1 MB/S @ monthely rental of around 700/- only. But the speed depends on the distance from BSNL BTS tower.
If ur willing for wired connection go for BSNL 750 unlimited plan.
