Google Pagerank 5 for me : Google just updated pagerank

I just did one change in my sidebar in ranking section, i changed the pagerank button. It was pagerank 4 button and now its pagerank 5 !!. Google updated Pagerank™ last night, i was just planning to sleep after giving my toughest paper of this sem (it was computer graphics). Paper was not so good but the pagerank update is super for me.

My Friend Ashish sms’ed me about Pagerank update, his blog got pagerank 1 (It was zero, so this is increment). I just checked my Pagerank and woop, it was also incremented by Google. Its Pagerank 5.This pagerank update is positive for most of the my friends, many of my friends got there pagerank back after some downs.

I can say that this is great Birthday gift for me by Google. My birthday was on 25th May. Thanks Google. But they should have update the pagerank exact on 25th May, hahaha.

Google is updating pagerank very frequently now a days, my be to give best results to its users while searching. This time i was in tension due to change in host, i recently changed my server to Hostgator. and wow my pagerank increased. Many people experience pagerank down after such host changes, but it was good for me.

My internal pages also got high Pageranks, few pages like these got pagerank 4.

and few pages got pagerank 3-2 etc etc

My overall traffic is also increased from few days, i think my tricks about “on page” and “off page” SEO are now working fine and i am getting superb results out of my research and work. Hope so it will continue. . I will keep sharing them on my blog.

so… Hows this Pagerank for you ?? Positive ?? Negative ?? or No change ??

Comment pages in WordPress 2.7 and SEO.

Recently i observed a problem in WordPress 2.7 related to paged comments. When ever someone posts a comment in our blog – the new wordpress 2.7 automatically assigns a link as “http://POSTURL/comment-page-1/#comment-number” which creates multiple pages with same content – A major problem for SEO.

So to avoid this , there is just one setting in your wordpress setting panel,

Go to your WordPress Admin panel
Then navigate to Settings >> Discussion Settings .

here you have to uncheck the “Break comments into pages” setting.

So from now your comments will be on same page and hence no duplicate content problem. Read my post where i have given few more tricks to avoid duplicate content in wordpress else Google will punish your site.

UPDATE : Steve written a amazing post with some tweak to wordpress files, which allows you to break pages with number of comments without harming the SEO. Take a look at the post : Dealing With Duplicate Content Issues on WordPress Comments Pages. The post is giving information about the Canonical URL meta, which allows us to redirect the bot to specific page so to avoid the duplicate content problem.
If you need more information of Canonical URL read a post of Google webmaster blog
But still if you prefer not to edit the PHP files simply use the trick that i have mentioned here at my post.

UPDATE: If you are using All in one SEO pack , then no need to do any changes in your wordpress, it is automatically using Canonical meta to avoid duplicate content issue.

New year wishes and Google pagerank update.

Happy new year to all my readers and friends, May this New Year bring newly found prosperity, love, happiness and delight in your life. I am writing this post on 01.01.09 , i.e. in new year. Though this is new year as per calender terms but for students like me this is not the new year. Students new year came when the semester ends after summer exams. The new year, i.e. 2009 will just change the writing practice in date format i.e. 2009 instead of 2008 and nothing else. But still one major change can be observed here.

Yes, one of the major change for this new year is the Google pagerank update. On 31 DEC 08 Google updated it Pagerank index. Pagerank is Google’s own ranking technology for deciding the position in search engine results. This blog get Pagerank 4 this update. In last update it was 3 and before that it was 2. TheChetan.com faced 3 Pagerank updates up till now and all are +ve with increasing in ranking. Google updates it Pagerank 3-4 times in year and this was the last update of 2008.

Apart from the main domain i.e. home page pagerank, i got much higher pagerank in few inner pages. One of my page has Pagerank 5. This page is my WordPress plugin WP-Copyprotect page. Another page to get higher Pagerank is Smooth scroll links plugin. Pagerank 4 is given to that page by google. Many internal pages have pagerank ranging from 3 to 0.

I did much work for achieving this pagerank, all those efforts are now infront of you all, after achieving PR 5 at one of my page. Now i am planning to start freelancing work for SEO.

Many people think that Pagerank is not related with traffic, but i personally think that “Higher the Pagerank more the traffic to your site”. I came to this conclusion after my personal experience. When TheChetan.com was on PR 3 the traffic was near to 200 Unique visitors per day, but now it is near to 500-600 Unique visitors per day with thousands of page views.

So whats your current position ?

Pagerank

Just yesterday i returned from Bangalore industrial tour.[I will write a detailed post about it later on]. I just seen Google updated the pagerank. After last pagerank update this update was pretty quick. Last pagerank update was on last week of July and this is on almost last week of September.

It seems that Google is giving the return gift to webmasters for there birth day bash in terms of Pagerank update.

So at this Pagerank update Google ranked my site little higher, given [Pagerank 3/10] previously it was [2/10] (In Pagerank, more the number better is the rank, e.g. Pagerank 8/10 is better than Pagerank 3/10).

So Google Pagerank updated, Check yours PR now.

After many rumors, and waiting of many webmasters, Google updates its Pagerank just yesterday.
Pagerank , many of the webmasters don’t believe on Pagerank . but the believers are now happy about the pagerank update last day.

I was busy in figuring out the number of blogs and domains who got higher Pagerank which are owned by me. Few of my friends got a good pagerank and few and unhappy with Google decision about there Sites Pagerank. Google also planned to remove the older penalties from few sites and may given penalties to few domains.

The market will now changed according to pagerank, but still the Search Engine ranking is same. (atleast for me) so i am expecting the change in ranking in few days.
Whats your experience about this Pagerank update ?
