Recently i faced a problem of high CPU usages from my old servers, i.e. iWhic.com. TheChetan.com was down for about two days because they suspended my account because of 75% of CPU usages. Can you imagine 75% CPU usages by a WordPress blog with not more than 1000Unique visitors per day ? On the same day i installed WP-Super cache plug in which works great and supported me at such low powered servers.

There servers are underpowered. They even cant face the traffic of 1000 Unique visitors per day !! . There database server is also very poor. My error_log file (present under root directory of your wordpress installation) was full with errors of database server. The errors were like “WordPress database error MySQL server has gone away for query” clearly notifying the power of there database servers.

So i decided to change the host servers, my friend Abhishek is using Hostgator service. I have seen the power of there host servers. They are good, and one of the most important fact was there support system. When my site was down at iWhic, there support system replied to my question after about 24Hrs and my account was restarted after 48Hrs.

Here at Hostgator the support system is really fast.Even i can now directly chat with support people if i have some urgent problem. Currently i shifted all my sites to hostgator and all are working superb with no tension of high CPU usages.Hostgator allows 25% of CPU usages for 90seconds. But as there servers are really high performance i never seen my CPU usages more than a percent.

Currently i am happy with the hostgator, lets see what happens in the future. Hope for the best and ready for the worst

Now Firefox will force all 2.X.X users to use 3.X.X Versions

Many of the Firefox users may have already seen that the Mozilla co-op now forcing all Firefox users to switch to new version i.e. 3.X.X.. But the people like me are still using Firefox 2.X.X because of flexibility of the older version, and plug-in support, Still there are many plug-Inns which does not support the newer firefox. so i will be still on Firefox 2.X.X.
When Firefox 3 was launched , i uninstalled it because of same reason (compatibility with plug-in) I am waiting for all plug-in makers to make there products / plug-ins fully compatible with Firefox 3.

Upgrade to Firefox 3

But remember, If you need high security switch to Firefox 3, it has best available security features. with many small and large changes like Faster loading of webpages, lesser memory requirements etc.

Speed up Your computer start time, use Hibernation

After making Internet Explorer faster, its time to speed up your PC startup.Everyone like his/her PC to start quicker, but even after putting thousands of MB RAM PCs starts very slow. One of the best solution to start your PC quicker is to use Hibernation option. Many people keeps there PC in Standby mode, but the Standby mode eats up lots of power supply. Where as if your PC is in Hibernation mode, ZERO Power is needed. But PC starts much quicker.

Actually in Hibernation, Our OS (Windows) stores all the data of RAM into HDD, and when ever we start our PC (From Hibernation) it just restores all data into RAM, so no need of loading each program in memory, results in quicker start up.

Here are the steps to enable the Hibernation in Windows XP
1. Right click on Desktop , Select properties
2. Then go to Screensaver Tab
3. Click on power button (new window will pop up named “Power options property“)
4. Select Hibernate Tab
5. Check “Enable Hibernation” (If unchecked)
6. Then keep clicking OK’s

To Hibernate the PC just Go o normal ShutDown menu and press SHIFT button, then the StandBy will turn into “Hibernate” Click on it . DONE
